Lower Body Lift Beverly Hills

Lower body lift, also known as gluteoplasty, refers to any of a number of surgical techniques that are used to tighten and lift the buttocks. The procedure may be performed as part of an overall body lift (which may also address the abdomen and thighs) or independently as a localized correction. Depending on your particular condition and desired results, Dr. Vallecillos may suggest one of the following:

In most cases, liposuction is performed as an ancillary procedure to a lower body lift. It may be used to remove unwanted fatty deposits from the buttocks, and in the case of a Brazilian Butt Augmentation, is used to harvest fat cells from other sites on the body for injection into the buttocks.

Procedure Walk-Through

  1. Preparation: To reduce the risk of excessive bleeding and bruising, patients should stop taking any blood-thinning medications (such as those containing aspirin or Ibuprofen) during the two weeks before surgery. Smoking can complicate healing, so if you smoke, you should quit for at least two weeks before and after surgery. If you are a patient over the age of 45, you will need to receive medical clearance from an independent physician prior to undergoing a lower body lift.
  2. Anesthesia: In most cases, patients will receive general anesthesia for a butt lift procedure. However, you may be eligible to receive an epidural anesthetic, which is administered to the spinal cord and numbs the lower part of the body. Dr. Vallecillos will discuss your options with you beforehand.
  3. During your pre-operative consult, Dr. Vallecillos will assess your condition and recommend one, or a combination, of the following procedures:

Traditional Butt Lift

A traditional butt lift involves the removal of fat deposits, and the excision of excess skin to tighten and lift the buttocks. This procedure may be performed either as part of a comprehensive body lift or as a singular surgical procedure. Incisions are made either around the hips or at the top of the buttocks. Liposuction is utilized to remove excess fatty deposits, and any excess skin is removed. The underlying tissues are tightened, the skin is then re-draped and the incisions closed.

Brazilian Butt Augmentation

A Brazilian butt augmentation (also commonly called a Brazilian butt lift or fat transfer to the butt) refers to a surgical procedure in which liposuction is used to extract fat from donor sites on the body, usually the abdomen or inner thighs, and is then purified, prepared, and injected into the butt. Injections are usually confined to the upper portion of the buttocks, in order to help them appear both larger and perkier.

Butt Implants

Butt implants are synthetic inserts that increase the size of the butt. With this procedure, incisions are made in the top or sides of the buttocks, a pocket is created within the underlying tissue, and the implants are inserted and affixed to surrounding structures. The incisions are then closed.

Lower Body Lift FAQs

Who is a candidate for a lower body lift?

You should consider a butt lift if you have poor muscle tone, loose underlying tissue and/or skin, and/or wish to achieve buttocks that are more uplifted.

What is the recovery time for a lower body lift?

Recovery time will vary based on the types of procedures you undergo for your butt lift. Patients should expect some tightness in the area for several days after surgery, with swelling and bruising persisting for at least two weeks. A compression bandage should be worn during this period to promote healing. If you underwent liposuction in other areas of your body (such as the abdomen and inner thighs), the incisions at the donor sites may need additional time to heal. Patients should avoid strenuous exercise for up to six weeks after surgery.

Are there risks or side effects with a lower body lift?

As with all surgeries, there are some risks associated with gluteoplasty. All surgeries carry the risk of scarring, bleeding, and infection. Though rare, other risks can include numbness or changes in sensation in the treated areas, and asymmetry.

How long do the results last?

Patients should expect the results from their lower body lift to last for years. You can help prolong your results by maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
