miraDry Procedure Overview
The miraDry procedure helps treat excessive sweating or hyperhidrosis in the under arms by eliminating the sweat glands. MiraDry is the only FDA approved procedure to eliminate sweat glands permanently. The procedure itself take one hour and is a noninvasive treatment. The treatment utilizes electromagnetic energy to generate heat to destroy the glands. In partner with the heating mechanism, there is also a cooling effect to make the treatment more tolerable and safe.
- Preparation: We recommend shaving your armpits 2 days prior to your treatment. Dr. Vallecillos may ask that you refrain from taking anti-inflammatory medications and/or medications that contain aspirin to reduce any swelling and/or bruising that may occur.
- Anesthesia: Local anesthesia is used while undergoing a miraDry treatment. The procedure is outpatient, non-surgical, and non-invasive.
- A typical treatment session will last about one hour. Immediate icing is required and ice packs will be provided for the patient.
