Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery FAQs

a Q & A Session with Dr. Glenn Vallecillos

Q: How many years have you been a practicing plastic surgeon?
A: My first year out of residency was in 2005

Q: Describe your philosophy and approach to cosmetic enhancement and treatment of patients
A: Philosophy: Superior advice predicated upon evidence-based medicine, innovative insight, and efficient execution.

Treatment goals: Create a natural appearing, balanced aesthetic enhancement that complements the patient’s unique features.

Q: What makes your practice distinctive? What makes your office different from others in your market?
A: Our practice is highly sub-specialized, with a notable reputation for excellence in surgical and non-surgical facial rejuvenation and rhinoplastic revision. Additionally we are a center of excellence for lipotransfer breast augmentation and breast revision surgery.

We hand-select highly personable staff which resonates in a warm, inviting environment. We covet our patients and are vested in each and every one of them. We treat our patients like family.

Q: What does your office look like?
A: Our office, located in the heart of the Beverly Hills medical district, is state-of-the-art ultra-modern facility with a minimalistic emphasis.

Q: What does a consultation with you entail?
A: Initially, patient information is gathered including photographs, salient medical history, and aesthetic goals. Next, I perform a comprehensive consultation utilizing videos and interactive patient education software. Following the consultation, the patient reviews the surgical procedure, peri-operative plans, and financials with the surgical consultant.

Q: How do you best educate your patients and manage patient expectations?
A: Extensive education with interactive software. This allows the patient to develop realistic expectations for their aesthetic procedure of interest.

Q: What steps does your office take to augment comfort?
A: We offer several features to augment comfort: A VIP waiting area, complimentary beverage/snack menu, Wi-Fi connectivity, and complementary usage of iPads and Beats by Dre audio technology.

Q: What do you do to provide the safest environment for your patients?
A: We offer JHACO accredited operative theatres – which meet the highest accreditation standards of outpatient surgical facilities.

Q: How do you feel your staff contributes to greater patient satisfaction and comfort?
A: Our staff is amongst the most inviting and down to earth, and knowledgeable group you will find. They truly make the client feel at ease and at home. That ultimately lends to a better rapport with the physician and a superior surgical experience.

Q: What’s most important to you when treating patients?
A: Comfort and security: We strive to achieve the ultimate customer experience. In surgery, much like professional sports, talent typically prevails. Championships however, are won by the teams who subscribe to organizational excellence. Accordingly, with good surgical planning and sound judgment, the majority of routine surgeries follow fairly predictable outcomes. Hence, customer service makes the experience complete. That’s what ultimately differentiates you as a surgeon from the masses. And that is our goal: to exceed our clients expectations.

Q: How do you show patients you care post-treatment?
A: I believe my patients should have access to me post-surgery. Therefore we establish channels of communication that promote this. All our patients receive multiple follow-up calls, especially in the early post-operative period to ensure an optimized post-operative course and peace of mind.

Q: Do you offer any special services (i.e. concierge, recovery suite ) or practice extensions (i.e. med spa, nutritional counseling )?
A: Our practice offers a variety of specialty services including
several top-tier treatments including Coolsculpt, Ulthera, and Total FX fractionated laser resurfacing at our Redondo Beach facility, Marcus Medical Spa. Personalized nutritional regimens are provided by Mahowald Nutrition.

Q: Does your office have its own proprietary product line? If so, tell us more about your products, what makes them unique and what health/beauty benefits they offer
A: Collaborative efforts with my associate Doctor Randal Haworth are in progression to launch a private beauty line and a line of innovative post-operative breast augmentation bras, scheduled to launch in the first quarter of 2014. Stay tuned …

Q: Does your practice have a tagline or brief mission statement? If so, please explain
A: “Sustained excellence” – our ethos, simply put, is to provide the pinnacle of care, in a culture of service excellence. We strive to develop an organizational environment that supports the consistent delivery of exceptional quality. We strive to get better, each and every day.

Q: How many years has your practice been operating?
A: The inaugural year for my private practice was 2007

Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: This may sound cliché, but the freedom to create is a unique and coveted feature of aesthetic plastic surgery. It is an awesome responsibility. Our specialty is the ultimate form of expression in medicine. Aesthetic plastic surgery is transformative. The ability to remodel someone’s face and body into their ideal and in doing so, elevating their spirit: That’s what drives me to improve, each and every day.

Q: Do you hold any specific medical/educational/professional positions you would like to mention in your practice? If so, please explain
A: I am a senior faculty member at Palette/Scientiae, an educational foundation focusing on the safe use of injectable agents for nonsurgical facial aesthetics. Over the past 6 years I have trained over 800 physicians and medical professionals on advanced aesthetic injectable techniques throughout the United States.

Q: Do you perform any pro bono work? If so, please explain
A: I perform pro-bono reconstructive surgery on a case by case basis which includes post-cancer breast reconstructive surgery and post-traumatic reconstruction on patients who cannot afford the surgery costs. Additionally, I am an avid supporter and fan of professional boxing and mixed martial arts. I have performed several pro bono procedures on injured athletes.

Q: Have your authored a particular book that you would like included in your profile? If so, what is the title of the book, and what health/beauty-related information does it contain?
A: n/a

Q: How would you best describe your operating room/chairside style?
A: Relaxed, efficient, and focused.

Q: How would your patients characterize you?
A: Personable. Down to earth. Cool. Thorough.

Q: What hobbies and/or extracurricular activities are you passionate about?
A: I am an avid surfer and snowboarder. I also enjoy motocross. Physical fitness is imperative in order to excel and prevent injuries in these types of sports. A large portion of my free time is subsequently spent training in the gym and in the pool.

On my leisure time, I am a student of quantitative mathematics.

Q: What fascinates you most about the human body?
A: The body’s ability to heal never to ceases to amaze me.

Q: What health and/or beauty tips(s) can help patients look/feel their best?
A: Stay out of the sun. Wear sunblock. Hydrate. Meditate every day. Workout every day – whether you need it, or not. Lastly, laugh – a lot!

Q: What are your most-requested procedures? Which procedures do you perform regularly?
A: Breast augmentation, breast revision, and rhinoplastic revision surgery

Q: What is your core sub-specialization or niche, if applicable?
A: Cell-assisted lipo-transfer breast augmentation

Complex volumetric facial rejuvenation through a blend of surgical and non-surgical modalities.

Q: What is unique about your treatment style?
A: To answer this, I think its best to work backwards. My surgical goals are to create natural, age-defying results. Subsequently, in my practice we veer away from “distortional” plastic surgery which more recently, and through outlets such as the media, often times gives our specialty a bad stigma. I strive to eradicate this through my treatment style and results.

Q: Where are procedures performed (in-house or in a hospital)?
A: The majority of our procedures are preformed at one of our 3 surgical theatres located in Beverly Hills and Santa Monica, CA.

Q: Focus in on one or two procedures for your profile. Do you have a special technique that you use for the procedure?
A: I use a “no touch” technique in my primary breast augmentations. I am firm believer that an efficient surgery, with minimal exposure time of the implant, minimizes the chance of complications. I’m confident my results support this.

Q: What surgical and/or nonsurgical trends are you noticing in your practice?
A: Certainly, we’re noticing how the confluence of surgical and non-surgical procedures impart an additive effect that far exceeds surgical expectations. With injectables, we’re finding that less is more: Strategic product placement produces optimal aesthetic results, and the trends in the community are encouraging.

Our participation through organizations such as Palette Workshops help ensure that the aesthetic bar in the community be raised so that optimal, natural appearing results are the standard among clinical injectors.

Q: What new procedures, treatments and/or technologies are on the horizon that you’re excited about?
A: We find ourselves in a transformative period in medicine. The leveraging cross-disciplinary exponentially growing technologies is creating new opportunities and disruptive influences in medicine and biomedical sciences which will prove to affect our wellness, our longevity, our quality of life, and yes, aesthetics in the future. Breakthrough developments ranging from 3D organ printing to organ regeneration, to a more fundamental understanding of stem cell technology will lend to great advances which will have a direct impact on our health. It truly is an exciting time to be alive.

Q: How do you define a successful result?
A: A patient who is years out from surgery, presents to my office for a routine follow-up. She is as enthusiastic today about the impact my treatments have imparted on her life as she was the day after surgery. That’s my definition of success, hands down
