The SLIM™ Face Enhancement Concept

The SLIM™ Face Enhancement is a one-of-a-kind comprehensive and non-surgical solution to the multi-faceted issues plaguing the aging face.  The SLIM™ Face Enhancement treatments combine a selection of minimally-invasive treatments to offer patients a full and more natural facial rejuvenation in the office or outpatient setting.

The term SLIM™ Facelift is an acronym for ScarLess, Integrative Modular Facial Enhancement System.

With that in mind, the SLIM™ Face Enhancement Concept was designed to give the aesthetic practitioner guidance and flexibility in establishing foundational principles for scarless facial rejuvenation. The incorporation of algorithmically-derived modular treatment options allows for a truly customized design for each patient, while taking the guesswork out of determining what treatment sequence is best suited for optimal results.

What is the SLIM™ Face Enhancement?

The SLIM™ Face Enhancement treatment sequence for most patients begins with a thorough facial analysis of the patient’s baseline.  This includes analysis of baseline facial symmetry, volumetrics, skin and soft-tissue quality, and other features such as rhytids or wrinkles, sunspots or dyschromias, redness or rosacea, and skin tone and texture.  Once a thorough facial analysis is complete, customized treatment options are provided to the patient and are discussed in detail, allowing the patient to be proactive in determining not only their desired level of outcome but also their recovery period.

SLIM™ Face Enhancement Benefits

The overall goal of the SLIM Face Enhancement is to offer a natural rejuvenated face , so each individual procedure works to complement the next in achieving this facelift without the invasive surgeries.

The first component of the SLIM face enhancement involves skin tightening, a process that typically employs energy-based procedures to treat loose skin, wrinkles, and fine lines. Facetite and J Plasma or Renuvion are two radiofrequency skin tightening techniques that utilize radiation energy to produce tighter skin along the jawline and under the chin. Both can also be beneficial in fighting against UV sun damage and treating different related signs of aging such as dark spots or hyperpigmentation. Facetite does specifically well in addressing excess fat and sagging in the face and neck region. J Plasma is unique in that it releases helium gas and radiofrequency creating a combination of heating and cooling energy that tightens targeted areas of the skin.

Morpheus8 is another component to reversing signs of aging. This specialized technique combines microneedling and radiofrequency to achieve deeper penetration of subdermal layers without incisions. Morpheus8 treats wrinkles and skin laxity, while also reducing sagging in the neck, chin and jowl areas. The microneedling penetration also stimulates collagen production as the skin heals itself, thus restoring volume loss in the face.

Finally, a non-ablative skin resurfacing such as Fraxel Restore targets even more signs of aging such as wrinkles, fine lines, scarring, sun damage, pigmentation, and acne keratosis. The combination of all of these energy directed treatments help to rejuvenate the skin at the surface level, enhancing the overall face.

When it comes to addressing the structural makeup of the face, we use MINT43 PDO platforms. Minimally invasive thread, or MINT, uses threads to lift and anchor sagging skin. PDO threading that lifts and tightens the skin while simultaneously contracting fat tissue, thus adding volume to sagging skin in the jowls, jawline, and cheeks. PDO thread is uniquely flexible and gentle on the skin, meaning it provides natural looking results while maintaining comfort for the patient.

To add onto the structure redefinition and volumization of the face, we use nano-fat transfer, biostimulators, and injectable fillers. Using fat harvested and purified from another part of the body, patients can safely receive added volume to specific areas of the face or neck. Biostimulators similarly can add volume by stimulating collagen production for a natural, healthy look. Finally, injectable fillers are another option that can achieve the exact desired effect.

How the Procedure Works

In the initial treatment phase, the implementation of energy-based devices ( J-Plasma and RFAL (or Facetite), Morpheus8, also known as SARD ( Subdermal Adipose Modeling Device), and non-ablative laser resurfacing such as Fraxel Restore is planned and executed, the goal being to create an optimal level of skin tightening and volume optimization throughout the face.

This is then followed by soft-tissue suspension, when applicable.  Our preferred method for soft-tissue suspension usually involves utilization of the MINT43 PDO platform, which allows for customization of the face and neck regions without the need for extensive scarring and downtime. Next, volume enhancement and structural remodeling is performed with a combination of nano-fat transfer, biostimulators, and injectable fillers where appropriate.  Neuromodulators such as Botox are also implemented for facial decoupling to create optimal “ lift “ effect on the face, as well as for the purposes of improving skin tone, texture, and even the presence of rosacea.

As a final step, regenerative medicine techniques ( via several cutting-edge modalities ) are implemented to enhance the face and improve the healthspan of your facial palette.

The SLIM™ Face Enhancement treatment sequence is performed over the course of days and weeks, much like the aftercare of a conventional facelift.  However, unlike a facelift this select aggregation of procedures addresses all aspects of the facial region, something that a pure facelift cannot accomplish even under the most ideal situations.

Am I a good candidate?

The SLIM™ Face Enhancement is a revolutionary treatment protocol pioneered by Dr. Glenn Vallecillos with the facelift patient in mind, and notably those patients that aren’t quite ready for a facelift either financially or psychologically, or more simply for patients that are in need of an overall facial enhancement but who don’t require something as extensive and involved as a facelift.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a SLIM™ Facelift Cost?

The Slim™ Facelift Pricing is dictated by the complexity of the procedure.  In general, the sequence of treatments commences with energy-based devices to allow for skin and soft-tissue retraction, tactical volume reduction in the face, as well as resurfacing of the skin.  These procedures cost $750-$3500, on average.

Volume enhancement is normally addressed following treatment with energy-based devices.  The goal here is to replace age-associated lost volume and to recreate the skeletal bony structure of a youthful face.  Some patients may only require strategic volumization of a single facial region, while others will require global volumization.  This may cost as little as $700 ( for a syringe of Voluma, for example ), or as much as $5000 ( in the scenario where the patient requires multiple syringes of filler for ideal soft-tissue enhancements.

In the scenarios where the patient would benefit from soft-tissue suspension ( thread lifts ),  the cost of these procedures will range from $750 to $7500.

Implementation of regenerative medicine techniques, which include exosome therapy, PRP, and stem cell therapy, among several, may cost from $750 – $10,000.

The cumulative cost of a comprehensive facial rejuvenation procedure using the SLIM™ Facelift System may cost the consumer in the range of $2500 to $29,500.  While the upper end of the theoretical price point may seem high, we must keep in mind that comparable pricing for a surgical facelift ( in our region of Beverly Hills), typically runs in the realm of $25,000 – $150,000 – and this does not take the OR/Anesthesia hard costs, which add another 30-40% to the overall procedure price.

When we take this into account and consider the vastly shorter downtime of the SLIM™ Facelift as compared to a conventional facelift, this significantly diminishes not only the financial barrier of entry, but also embraces the mindset of the modern aesthetic client who yearns to look better with less risk and minimal downtime being a key factor in their decision-making as to whether or not to proceed with any given treatment.

Does J-Plasma tighten loose skin?

Yes, through a combination of helium gas and radiofrequency released under the skin to create plasma energy, J Plasma tightens loose skin on just about any part of the body.

Is Facetite as good as a facelift?

Facetite is a fantastic and effective alternative to the traditional facelift for patients looking to address mild to moderate signs of aging such as loose skin, wrinkles, and fine lines in the chin, jowls, and neck. Thus, Facetite can be just as good as a facelift for those with realistic expectations. However, those suffering from more advanced signs of aging may be better suited for a full facelift or neck lift.

What is the downtime for a Slim™ Facelift?

Most patients take about one to two days for the initial recovery, and are able to return to work within five days after treatment.

What is a MINT Threadlift?

Minimally invasive nonsurgical thread, or MINT, is a nonsurgical procedure that uses barbed threads to lift and anchor sagging skin, providing immediate results. One such form is polydioxanone (PDO) thread, a synthetic raw material that is eventually absorbed by the skin. PDO is a segment of barbed threading that lifts and tightens the skin by simultaneously contracting fat tissue, thus adding volume to sagging skin.

PDO threads can be used to treat virtually any part of the face and neck, such as jowls, jawline, nasolabial folds, crows feet, eyebrows and cheeks in a procedure lasting no more than an hour. The results may be fully realized a month in but can last up to a year.

Can MINT Thread lifts be repeated?

Yes, MINT Thread Lifts can be repeated to maintain your results based on their longevity. Many patients opt to have their PDO lift repeated yearly.

What is Fraxel laser good for?

Fraxel lasers can resurface the skin to promote better tone and texture. Specifically, it treats hyperpigmentation, sun damage,  acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles by using a laser to minimally damage the skin and stimulate healing and healthy skin growth.

How long does it take to recover from Fraxel laser?

The recovery can take about three weeks with the most intensive healing in the first week. During this time you can expect to feel discomfort as well as redness, swelling, and tightness in the treated area. The healing period is progressive and takes about 2 months to see optimal improvement. However, the skin can continue to heal for a year after treatment.

How long does micro fat grafting last?

Once the fat has settled and the results have been fully realized, the results of micro fat grafting are considered to be permanent. This is because the fat cells have been transferred to the targeted area, so as long as weight is relatively maintained, so will be the results.

What is the difference between fat transfer and fat grafting?

Fat transfer and fat grafting are synonymous terms for taking fat from one part of the patient’s body and moving it to another.

How long does nano fat grafting last?

Once the fat has settled and the results have been fully realized, the results of micro fat grafting are considered to be permanent. This is because the fat cells have been transferred to the targeted area, so as long as weight is relatively maintained, so will be the results.
